Mouton Cadet was created in Bordeaux in 1930 by the Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Iconic figure of the wine world as owner of Château Mouton Rothschild (1st classified Growth in Medoc) and co-creator of Opus One in Napa Valley, with Robert Mondavi.
Mouton Cadet was created to offer an affordable Bordeaux wine with guarantee of high quality. It is the most famous Bordeaux wine Brand and is very known in the business.
Our Cuvée Héritage is the reflection of this great history and is made in the Bordeaux Red Tradition. It is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2 main grapes of Bordeaux region and it is aged in French oak for 10 months. The very elegant label is the label used for Mouton Cadet in the 1950s. It is a real tribute to the Baron Philippe de Rothschild.
We also launched last year a new collection called "Fresh collection". 3 wines, made in Bordeaux but in a more modern style. With a colorful and modern label (representing the Bordeaux regions); All signed by the great grandchildren of the Baron Philippe (including me, I created the red):
- Mouton Cadet Blanc x Nathan : a 100% Sauvignon blanc, very crisp, with exotic fruits and floral aromas. It's a real crowd pleaser.
- Mouton Cadet Rosé x Mathilde : a 100% Merlot Rosé. Makes it very unique, with grapefruits and Raspberry aromas. Very equilibrated, with a long and refreshing finish.
- Mouton Cadet Rouge x Pierre : a real innovation for us. It is a 100% Merlot Red, very fruity and very fresh. Not the classical Bordeaux style. We managed to keep the tannins very low so this wine can be enjoyed chilled (try it at 45°).
This collection addresses more to a young crowd, or for people who are seeking for more fun in wines.
